Summer Recreation and Conservation Ranger
Meet Mars! In partnership with the Town of Crested Butte, we’re excited to introduce your new Recreation and Conservation Ranger, Mars Charlebois. Mars has a background in fisheries and is currently working on her master’s degree in Environmental Management at Western Colorado University. You’ll see Mars throughout the summer at various high-traffic locations including Gunsight Bridge, Long Lake, Lower Loop and the Slate River Boat Launch in town. She’ll be helping educate recreators on safe and sustainable practices, collecting recreation data, stewarding conserved lands and reminding river users of the voluntary no-float period in place to protect the Great Blue Heron rookery now through July 15. Please stop by and say hello whenever you see her at our local rivers and trailheads!
For more information about recreating responsibly, check out our (new!) website.
Summer Field Trips
Phot by Dusty Demerson
Don’t forget to sign up for this season’s field trips. We’d love to see you this summer! All field trips are free, so email jessica@cblandtrust.org to sign up today.
Our next field trip is on Thursday, June 22 with Adaptive Sports Center at 4 PM.
Join us for a leisurely bike ride on the rec path through the Land Trust’s Robinson Parcel located between Mt. CB and Town. We’ll start out at the Kelsey Wright Building at the base area and learn about the great work that the Adaptive Sports Center does in the valley. We’ll ride from there down the rec path and learn about surrounding conservation history from staff at the Land Trust.
Join us later this summer on Thursday, August 31 with Gunnison Wildlife Association and Thursday, September 14 celebrating the Gunsight Bridge 5th Anniversary. More info here!
