Season’s Greetings

New snow and new seasons are upon us, and from all of us here at the Crested Butte Land Trust, happy holidays! As we come together to celebrate the season, let us also celebrate the achievements we’ve accomplished as a united community committed to caring for the land you love. This year with your help, the Land Trust protected Slate River wetlands, improved access at Long Lake, acquired backcountry mining claims, advanced a landmark deal to keep Red Lady mine free, and helped conserve the historic Outward Bound School basecamp in Marble, CO for environmental education. The landscapes we safeguard are not only a testament to our shared values but are also a gift to future generations. I am truly grateful for your unwavering support in protecting these important places.

May this holiday season bring you warmth, joy, and lots of fresh snow! I look forward to sharing a new year with you, filled with continued success in protecting land for people, wildlife, and ranching.

Warmest Regards,
Jake Jones
Executive Director

Welcome Rachel!

The Crested Butte Land Trust is excited to welcome Rachel Sabbato, our new Conservation Manager, to the team! Rachel comes to CBLT with experience across all jurisdictions of land management with years spent as a land use planner with Gunnison County and a natural resource specialist with the National Park Service among her many accomplishments.

For Rachel, outside time is a must, and with that comes a love of all things plant taxonomy to landscape ecology, social connections to place, and simply sitting quietly in the soil. Her background includes a Master’s in Environmental Management from Western Colorado University with a focus on land management at a landscape scale. She enjoys building effective, transparent partnerships to engage and complete successful projects and programs. When not at work Rachel can be found adventuring with her family, riding bikes, playing on the river, skiing, gathering with friends, and reading. She also currently serves on the board for Cold Harbour Institute.
