Mike grew up in the suburbs of Detroit and made annual pilgrimages to the Colorado Rockies to
ski with his family. He attended Middlebury College in Vermont and after graduating lived in a
Colorado ski town working in restaurants at night, and skiing, mountain biking and fly fishing
during the day. Mike received his law degree from the University of Michigan and practiced
real estate law before joining The Nature Conservancy to help protect land in Colorado with
high conservation value. In 2015 Mike joined Conscience Bay Company as Director of Resource
Investments. He has led the acquisition of 7,000 acres of ranch land and the leasing of over
200,000 acres of public land where the company runs an organic, grass-fed cattle operation.
These lands are also being used to advance carbon sequestration, regenerative agriculture,
water conservation and other strategies to address climate change. Mike lives in Crested Butte
with his wife Mimi and spends most of his free time outside recreating or traveling to see live
music.
