Originally from southern Maine, Carmen drove to Colorado the day after high school and immediately fell in love with the West.  After graduating from Colorado College and returning to Maine to work in the social services field, Carmen took a chance in 2003 and moved to Crested Butte sight unseen for what was supposed to be “just one winter.” More than two decades later, she is grateful to call this extraordinary place home. 

After enjoying the seasonal nature of Crested Butte service industry work with off seasons dedicated to adventuring near and far, Carmen committed to building a career and community in Crested Butte.  She began that journey in municipal government serving for 5 years as the Deputy Town Clerk for the Town of Crested Butte, where she gained broad experience in local government operations, public engagement, and regulatory compliance. After a hiatus to focus on a growing family, Carmen returned to the professional world and spent over a decade working for Eleven Experience, a global adventure travel company headquartered in Crested Butte.  Beginning in financial operations, Carmen ultimately advanced to the role of Chief of Staff where she partnered with executive leadership to drive strategic initiatives, strengthen organizational systems, and foster collaboration across teams and stakeholders.  

Carmen is thrilled to bring her experience to the Crested Butte Land Trust team working to forever protect and steward open lands.  Outside of the office, Carmen can be found adventuring with her family on the trails and rivers.
