120-acre parcel, private conservation easement

Conserving a legacy ranch and unrivaled habitats, CBLT has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help a local family protect their ranch in perpetuity. Surrounded by National Forest and nestled along nearly 80 acres featuring a robust wetland ecosystem, Cement Creek Ranch has been recognized by the Colorado Natural Heritage Program as a high-importance conservation area. It is a critical puzzle piece that will ensure the preservation of millions of acres of contiguous public lands. Located in the Upper Gunnison Valley, this legacy ranch embodies the rural character and open spaces that define Crested Butte.

14-acre parcel, CBLT fee title acquisition

Through this campaign, CBLT has a rare opportunity to expand its footprint at Long Lake and protect public access to this breathtaking sanctuary. The Long Lake parcel consists of 14 acres of hiking trails that meander through forests, meadows, and panoramic views of pristine, reflective waters. Long Lake is well known as Crested Butte’s most visited swimming hole, where naturally snow-fed waters are the perfect place to fish or cool off after riding and hiking steep mountain trails.

17-acre parcel, CBLT fee title acquisition
Fundraising goal $150,000 | Total cost of parcel $150,000

The majestic bi-annual Gunnison elk migration passes through the Cement Creek 17 parcel. A critical pinch point along the valley’s migration corridor, CBLT will protect this important habitat as well as the scenic gateway to the Gunnison National Forest. Each year, residents of CB South step into their backyards and watch herds of native elk traverse the rocky hillside that abuts National Forest lands.
