Irwin
In 1993, the Crested Butte Land Trust accepted its very first conservation easement on 3.3 acres in the Irwin town site. This property is significant because of Coal Creek, which flows from Lake Irwin and crosses the easement. Coal Creek serves as the source of drinking water for the Town of Crested Butte and provides ample wetlands habitat. Located in the historic town site of Irwin, adjacent to National Forest, the Stratman’s donated a second easement on 6.6 acres in 1996.
