From Crested Butte to Mt. Crested Butte

The Robinson Parcel provides a natural separation between the towns of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte and contains notable wetlands and wildlife habitat. The beautiful upland hay meadow continues to be ranched by the Rozman family. Its protection enhances the public’s experience of the recreation path that winds through the parcel. The acquisition was originally for 154 acres in 1998. The old homestead and 7-acres were subsequently sold from the parcel to assist the Land Trust in paying off the acquisition cost. The old homestead was allowed to be reconstructed with an addition to form a private residence.

In 1999, Henry Gallin donated 2.24 acres of open space to the Robinson Parcel. This donated land is situated between the Robinson Parcel and the Overlook development on the east side of Gothic Road, between the towns of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte. This donation allowed the Land Trust to keep the geographical configuration of the Robinson Parcel completely intact.

A conservation agreement on 5-acres bordering the old T-bar lift was donated to the Land Trust in December, 2000. Known as the Nevada Ridge Parcel, this donation ensured that the skiable terrain to the south of the old T-bar would not be encroached upon, as well as eliminating 5 home sites that could have been built on the easement.
