Current Board Members
Fred Holbrook
Fred arrived in Crested Butte for the winter season of 1975-1976. He started his own business building both commercial and residential projects. For more than a decade, he served on the Boards of the Chamber of Commerce and the Mountain Theater, as well as the Gunnison County Planning Commission. In his free time, Fred likes to take full advantage of the biking, hiking and Nordic ski trails that the land trust provides in the areas surrounding Crested Butte.
Beth Appleton
Beth is an attorney practicing in Crested Butte providing a wide range of legal services including real estate, non profit, business, transactional, construction and family law. Beth has a history of community service and nonprofit involvement and support.
Tim Mueller
Tim has been in the resort business for over 30 years and co-owner of Triple Peaks, LLC, the resort company that leases and operates the Crested Butte Mountain Resort. His experience includes planning, permitting, financing, building, marketing and operating first class resorts in different geographic areas including Vermont, St. Thomas USVI, Colorado and New Hampshire. In Steamboat Springs, Tim and his wife Diane were involved with the Lake Catamount project, which was developed as a land conservation project protecting over 3,000 aces of land. Tim is the chair of the Finance Committee.
Kiley Flint
Kiley came to Crested Butte 12 years ago from Vermont after graduating from the University of Vermont with a degree in Social Work. She has been selling real estate full time for the last 7 years, most recently with Benson Sotheby’s International Realty. Kiley is a past President of the Gunnison Country Association of Realtors and still serves as a director. The strong community values, natural environment and love for skiing are truly why Crested Butte is her home.
Skip Berkshire
Skip and his wife Ruth retired to Crested Butte in 1998. Skip spent 21 years in the US Air Force as an Astronautical Engineer followed by 12 years of systems engineering with Lockheed-Martin Corp. Skip currently serves as a Board member of the Crested Butte Nordic Council and was on the Crested Butte Town Council from 2001 to 2009. Skip and Ruth enjoy just about all outdoor activities including all forms of Nordic skiing, running and hiking, road and mountain biking, backpacking, mountaineering, gardening, and travel.
Margery Feldberg
Margery has been in real estate development for more than 25 years and using this experience and her knowledge of finance, she previously assisted the Weantinogue Land Trust to preserve open space in Connecticut. Margery previously served on the boards of the Crested Butte Music Festival and the Mt. Crested Butte Performing Arts Center.
Karen Janssen
Originally from Washington State, Karen moved to Crested Butte in 1988. Her dedication to the land is evidenced by her tenure with the 1% for Open Space program, where she was the Development Director for four years, and continues to serve on its Board of Directors. Karen also served as a board member of Stepping Stones Children’s Center and has volunteered for various other nonprofit organizations throughout the valley.
Peter Kennel
Peter and his wife Margaret moved to Crested Butte in 1996. He worked as a lawyer both in private practice and in Amoco Corporation’s international legal group before moving into Amoco management, primarily in the area of international negotiations. After retirement from Amoco he consulted for the Government of the former Soviet Republic of Georgia on negotiations and legal matters for several years. He is a past president of the Crested Butte Music Festival, the Meridian Lake Park, and Meridian Lake Meadows Homeowners’ Associations, and served as a director of the Gunnison County Metropolitan Recreation District. The Kennels’ service to the Land Trust includes the donation of several Schofield Park properties.
Gabe Martin
Gabe moved to the Gunnison Valley in 2000 transferring to Western State College where he met his wife, Kyra. In 2006 he started Colorado FreeSkier Ski Shop. He is also the organizer of the Big Air on Elk ski and snowboard competition which benefits the Crested Butte Ski Club where Gabe also serves as a board member. He was previously involved with Crested Butte Mountain Theatre and Partners.
Bill Reimer
Bill moved to Crested Butte in 2003, after retiring as Chief Operating Officer for the Douglas County School District, concluding a 32-year career in educational administration. He currently serves on the Skyland Community Association Board, and is also Treasurer of both the Skyland Metropolitan District and the East River Sanitation District Boards. He has served on various community, educational and hospital boards in the Gunnison Valley and in Denver.
